Thankfulness in the Midst of Grief and Persecution

As believers, we are called to give thanks in all things, even when life feels overwhelming, frustrating, or full of unanswered questions. It’s not always easy, but it’s in these moments of struggle that gratitude becomes a powerful act of faith. The Bible reminds us of this truth in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

This is even in the face of grief, persecution, and hardship, we are encouraged to adopt an attitude of thankfulness—not because of the pain, but because of God’s faithfulness to bring us through it.

How long is the WAIT?

Let me be transparent: this season of my life has not been easy. In fact, I’m in a period of waiting on God to fulfill His promises, and the journey has been far from smooth. Financial goals loom over me, seemingly too big to conquer, and I’ve had moments of deep frustration, questioning how and when God will provide.

What makes it harder is the pressure of others watching, offering opinions, or even doubting my choices. From the outside, it may look like I’m off track or making foolish decisions. Yet what many don’t see is my intentional choice to trust and obey God despite my frustrations. Even on the hardest days, I’m learning to thank him for the small glimmers of light that remind me he’s with me.

A kind word, an unexpected opportunity, a moment of clarity—these are my reminders to keep moving forward. Gratitude keeps me grounded and helps me see God’s provision, even in the waiting.

Thankfulness Even when Angry!

Anger and grief can cloud our ability to be thankful. It’s hard to feel gratitude when life feels unjust or when our pain is deep. But gratitude doesn’t mean denying your emotions—it means inviting God into them. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”  Even, In anger and frustration, learning to pour out our heart to God shows that we trust that he can handle our emotions. Come with me as, I lean into Him, Remind yourself of all He has already done —and dig in so you can feel thankful again, even in struggle. Even when deep misunderstandings exist. Even when people are judging and being in a place only God can have.

The Power of Praise in Darkness

This story I learned of recently brought it all home, It's inspiring. It's one of a 9-year-old boy who was kidnapped in 2014. Instead of succumbing to fear, this child sang the song “Every Praise” over and over until his captor released him. His faith and gratitude, even in the darkest moment of his young life, became his lifeline.

This testimony reminds me of the power of praise and thanksgiving to break chains—literally and spiritually. When we thank God, even in the valley, we declare that He is bigger than our circumstances.

Choose Gratitude

I don’t know what season you’re in right now. Maybe you’re facing grief, persecution, or just a season of waiting like me. Wherever you are, I want to encourage you to thank God for the little things. Gratitude may not change your circumstances overnight, but it will change your perspective and strengthen your faith.

Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Let’s walk this journey together, thanking God for the glimmers of light and trusting that His promises will come to pass. Choose thankfulness today—it’s a declaration that God is still in control.

All honor to God!

Beloved Be A Plus.
